Workstation disk space cleanup

Additional cleanup was performed on the Windows workstation, which increased free space to 39 GB. Large files in the Downloads folder were identified as remaining space usage.

Killed once by someone from XL.net, on 2026-04-01.

What you see

  • Very little free space remained on the C: drive after the initial temp and recycle-bin cleanup.
  • A scan still showed large files in the Downloads folder.

Why it happens

Likely Likely accumulated local files were consuming disk space, especially large files in Downloads plus temporary and recycle-bin data.

When it shows up

A Windows workstation is low on disk space even after temp files and the recycle bin have already been cleared.

You are in this case if:

  • Free space on C: is around 20 GB or less.
  • Large files are present in the Downloads folder.
