Word envelope jobs print on the wrong paper and rotate 90 degrees
Envelope prints were going to regular paper instead of envelope paper. The fix was to change the Word envelope feed setting back to face down/centered/short edge feed and confirm the output printed correctly.

Affects
Apps
- Microsoft Word
Hardware
- envelope-capable printer
What you see
- Envelope documents print on regular paper instead of envelope paper.
- With the long edge feed setting, the printed text is rotated 90 degrees.
Why it happens
Likely The Word envelope feed setting was set to the wrong orientation (long edge feed), which sent the job with the wrong rotation/paper handling.
When it shows up
A Word envelope print job is using the wrong paper path or the envelope content is rotated 90 degrees.
You are in this case if:
- Word envelope settings show face down/centered/long edge feed.
- Printed output rotates the text by 90 degrees when that setting is used.
