Windows
VPN sign-in failed until the synced server password was corrected
VPN sign-in was failing. The server login password was corrected on the domain controller, after which VPN access worked; network drives and Office sign-in were also checked.
Killed once by someone from XL.net, on 2026-01-21.
What you see
- Unable to log in to the VPN.
Why it happens
Likely The server login password was not set correctly on the domain controller, so the synced VPN credentials did not work.
When it shows up
A Windows user cannot sign in to VPN and the same account password is synchronized through the domain controller, firewall, and Microsoft 365.
You are in this case if:
- The account uses a shared synced password across the domain controller, firewall, and Microsoft 365.
