Teams camera and video not available inside AVD
Camera and video were unavailable in Teams inside the AVD session, with the camera icon blurred out and no option to use it. Relaunching Teams resolved the device passthrough issue, and retesting a Teams meeting confirmed camera and sound worked; the same result was confirmed again after relaunching AVD.

Affects
Versions
- Windows
Apps
- Microsoft Teams
- Azure Virtual Desktop
Hardware
- camera
- microphone
- audio
What you see
- Camera icon is blurred out in the Teams meeting join screen.
- No option is available to click the camera icon.
- Teams inside AVD does not recognize the camera and sound devices.
Why it happens
Suspected Teams inside the AVD session likely did not connect to the camera and audio passthrough devices on the initial launch.
When it shows up
A user opens Teams inside an AVD session and the meeting join screen shows a blurred camera icon with no usable camera/video control, while the camera and sound work outside Teams in the same session.
You are in this case if:
- Teams inside AVD does not list or use the camera and audio devices.
- Camera and sound work outside Teams in the same AVD session.
- The join screen shows a blurred-out camera icon with no click option.

Keeping it away
- If Teams starts without recognizing camera or audio devices inside AVD, relaunch Teams before joining the meeting.
