Windows
Sharp printer shows 'Error: State' from one PC
The affected PC got 'Error: State' when printing to a Sharp printer even though other PCs could print to the same device. The printer was reinstalled on that PC and duplex printing was turned off for that printer; test pages then went out without errors.

Affects
Hardware
- Sharp printer
What you see
- Print jobs from one PC fail with 'Error: State' when sent to a printer that works for other PCs.
- The affected PC needed the correct printer reinstalled before test pages would print cleanly.
Why it happens
Likely The printer setup on the affected PC was incorrect; duplex printing was enabled for that printer profile and the printer instance needed to be reinstalled.
When it shows up
Only one Windows PC gets 'Error: State' when printing to a Sharp printer, while other PCs can print to the same printer normally.
You are in this case if:
- The printer's Windows properties on the affected PC have duplex/2-sided printing enabled.
- The affected PC has the printer installed as a separate queue/profile from the working PCs.
