Remote desktop Print to PDF was using the redirected local option

In the remote desktop session, Print to PDF was defaulting to the redirected option, which made file selection point at the local machine instead of the virtual machine. The technician removed the redirected option from the VM and advised logging off so the change would take effect.

Affects

Apps

  • Remote Desktop

What you see

  • Downloads from faxes could not be processed because file selection was going to the local machine instead of the remote desktop VM.
  • The Print to PDF flow was defaulting to a redirected option in the remote session.

Why it happens

Likely The remote desktop was configured to use the "redirected" option for Print to PDF, so it targeted the local machine's files and folders.

When it shows up

A user in a remote desktop session reports that Print to PDF or fax-file downloading is opening local machine folders instead of the virtual machine's folders, and the session shows a redirected option.

You are in this case if:

  • The remote desktop session shows the exact word "redirected" as the selected option.
  • Print to PDF is offering local machine files/folders instead of the VM's own locations.
