Windows
Printer would not print documents until it was rebooted and moved off the guest network
Printing failed even after the printer was powered off and back on, and a test page would print but normal documents would not. The printer was rebooted twice and switched from the guest wireless network to the normal network; after that, black-and-white and color printing worked.
Killed once by someone from XL.net, on 2026-08-19.
Affects
Hardware
- printer
What you see
- Documents would not print.
- A test page printed after the printer was powered back on.
- Printing seemed out of sync with the printer/network.
Why it happens
Likely The printer was on the guest wireless network instead of the normal network.
When it shows up
A printer can print a test page but user documents do not print, and the printer is connected to a guest wireless network.
You are in this case if:
- Printer network shows a guest wireless connection rather than the normal connection.
- Black-and-white and color printing both fail until the printer network is changed.
