NetExtender window opens offscreen after docking changes
NetExtender was running, but its window kept opening offscreen after the laptop moved between docked and undocked use. The fix was to reinstall the latest version, clear the Windows external-monitor cache, reboot, and verify it reopened in the visible area.

Affects
Versions
- Windows
Apps
- NetExtender
Hardware
- laptop
- dock
- external monitor
What you see
- NetExtender is running but no window appears on screen
- The app opens offscreen after disconnecting from a dock
- Force-closing from the taskbar does not bring the window back into view
Why it happens
Likely Likely Windows kept the app's last window position in the external-monitor cache, so NetExtender reopened on an offscreen display after switching between docked and undocked use.
When it shows up
A Windows laptop has been used with an external monitor or dock and the app window is missing even though the process is running.
You are in this case if:
- NetExtender is present but its window is not visible
- The issue changes after docking or undocking
- The problem follows a display-position/cache state rather than an app crash

Keeping it away
- If the app disappears again after display changes, check whether it is still running in the tray before reinstalling.
- Make tray icons always visible for easier recovery when a window opens offscreen.
