Bank website login fails in Chrome until browser updates are allowed
The user could not log in to a bank website in Google Chrome. The fix was to allow Chrome updates and then update Chrome to the latest version, after which the site opened normally.

Affects
Versions
- Windows
Apps
- Google Chrome
What you see
- An error appears while trying to log in to the bank website in Chrome.
- The site cannot be accessed until the browser is updated.
Why it happens
Likely Chrome was likely out of date because browser updates were blocked or not allowed.
When it shows up
A Windows computer cannot sign in to a bank website in Google Chrome and the browser is not current.
You are in this case if:
- Google Chrome is installed.
- Chrome update settings are disabled or blocked.
