Adobe Acrobat opens, but PDF files would not open

The computer could open Adobe Acrobat, but PDF files would not open from email or from local files. The issue was fixed after the machine was rebooted.

Killed once by someone from XL.net, on 2025-12-04.

Affects

Versions

  • Windows

Apps

  • Adobe Acrobat

What you see

  • Adobe Acrobat starts normally.
  • PDF files from email or from folders do not open.

Why it happens

Suspected Likely a temporary state on the computer that was cleared by rebooting.

When it shows up

Adobe Acrobat launches, but opening a PDF from email or from a file does nothing on the same computer.

You are in this case if:

  • Adobe Acrobat opens successfully.
  • PDF documents will not open when selected from email or from the file system.
